“I don’t wish this on my worst enemy,” said Angela Young.

6-year-old Jimmy Jones III was just two months old when Child Protective Services took him into state custody because his mother was addicted to drugs. CPS placed him with his aunt Dell Young. “After a year and a half, maybe less, I was told by my caseworker that the case was closed,” said Young. But it turns out the CPS caseworker resigned without closing the case. It has been open for five years with five different caseworkers.

From the time he was two months old, Jimmy was raised by his aunt and grandparents.

“I love him,” said Jimmy’s grandmother Carolyn Jones. “He’s been with us all his life.”

CPS picked Jimmy up at school on Feb. 6 and placed him in a foster home.

“We don’t know where he is,” said Angela. “They won’t let us talk to him. No visitation. Nothing.”

Jimmy’s grandparents and aunts said that CPS did not provided them with any paperwork or any reason why the boy was placed in foster care.

“I don’t know as of today, honest to God, I don’t know why they won’t let us see him,” said Carolyn.

Community advocate Renee Jefferson-Smith said the CPS case file is riddled with mistakes.

“His name was wrong, not spelled wrong, it was just wrong,” said Jefferson-Smith. “His birthday was listed as May of 2016.”

The relatives said the only thing CPS will tell them is that Jimmy will be placed for adoption but apparently not with any of them.

“I don’t know what else to do, just pray and ask the Lord, please send him home,” said Carolyn. “This is where he belongs, with us.”

The only response provided to FOX 26 News so far from a CPS spokesperson is, “We are looking into it.”
